Dogs only in Spring Lake lagoon this weekend

The success of a pool party for dogs at the Spring Lake Regional Park Swimming Lagoon last month has prompted park officials to host a similar event this weekend.

The entire lagoon area will become a leash-free zone Saturday so dogs of all sorts can run, swim and play.

The Sept. 17 Water Bark event drew more than 300 dogs, whose owners paid a nominal fee to raise funds for the blue plastic dog waste bags available at various locations around the park.

Saturday's event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost is $3 for Regional Park members and $5 for non-members.

Only dogs will be allowed in the water.
