Local Finds: European Food Store
European Food Store
2709 Santa Rosa Avenue, Suite M
Overview: Russian immigrants Anatoliy and Olga Rozhkova opened Santa Rosa’s only European market a year ago to provide hard to find products for ex-pats. They carry items from Russian, Germany, England, Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Ukraine and Romania, and are willing to get products from other countries if there is a demand. They take all types of payment including food stamps.
What you’ll find: Fresh black and red Russian caviar, German and Italian salami, European sausages and meats, Polish red beans, Australian smoked fish, blintz, poppy seed cakes, candies and chocolates from around the world. Russian triangle bread is baked fresh daily. Also Russian wine, herbal and traditional teas from Europe, impossible to find Russian coffees and gorgeous and inexpensive chocolate boxes for the holidays. The frozen case is stuffed with pelmeni and piroshkies. The half-sour pickles are a real find, previously available only in New York City.
Two items of note:
8 oz. smoked halibut, $11.99
Vienna Sausage, $5.99 per lb.
Gingerbread Cookies with Creamy Taste, 17.6 oz. for $2.55
Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
