CRAB SEASON
EDITOR: I am a sport fisherman and live in Bodega Bay. The closing of the
commercial crab season by Gov. Arnold Schwartznegger has been reported
inaccurately.
The headline, ''Crab season delayed until at least Dec. 1,'' would indicate
that the closure was for all of the Bodega Bay/San Franciso/Monterey waters,
when the actual area is much smaller and within the state-controlled
three-mile limit only.
As I write this, the commercial fisherman are out there laying their pots off
Bodega Head and north toward the Russian River within the three-mile limit
controlled by the Department of Fish and Game and outside in federal waters.
The actual areas of closure are south of Point Reyes and only within the
three-mile limit. Your headline was only partially correct.
