Santa Rosa doctor receives award

Santa Rosa dermatologist Dr. Dale Westrom received the Making a Difference award from the American Academy of Dermatologists earlier this month.
The award, which is handed out monthly, is the highest honor a member can receive from the AAD. Westrom was awarded based on his efforts in community service, most recently opening up a weekly walk-in dermatology clinic.
Westrom was also recognized for his efforts with the Brighter Days program, an endeavor founded by a central Californian dermatologist for skin doctors to volunteer their time to patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Westrom is a dermatologist with the Santa Rosa-based Redwood Empire Dermatology group, and has practiced in Santa Rosa since 1988. Raised in Sonoma County, Westrom received his Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley, and received his undergraduate degrees from both Bay Area and Washington D.C.-area schools.
Westrom will be featured in an upcoming issue of Dermatology Today.
