A comedy open mic will be held at Gaia’s Garden on 1899 Mendocino Ave on Wednesday, December 19, at 9 p.m. Headlining the night is San Francisco comic Leslie Small, and the night will also feature other local and Bay Area comedians. Music at Noon will host an evening performance of holiday favorites by men’s a capella group Sonoma Chanson at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 17 in the recreation room at the Bethlehem Towers on 801 Tupper Street. Free. Info: 583-4063.

The North Bay Country Dance Society will host a Holiday Contra Dance at Monroe Hall on Friday, December 21, starting at 8 p.m. at 1400 W. College Ave. The Montana and Maine group Sassafras Stomp will provide music for the dance, and Bay Area native Susan Petrick will be calling the festive contra dances. The Festival Consort presents its annual Renaissance Christmas concert at the Church of the Incarnation at 550 Mendocino Avenue on Saturday, December 22, at 3 p.m. Soprano Carol Menke and counter tenor Chris Fritzsche will join Joanna Bramel Young, David Hogan Smith, Alan Paul and Robert Cronin in an afternoon of traditional carols and stirring works for recorders, crumhorns, curtal, shawms and guitar. The Moscow Ballet presents the Great Russian Nutcracker on Sunday, December 23, at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts on 50 Mark West Springs Road at 7 p.m. Spectacular scenic design, gorgeous costumes and the exquisite artistry of 40 top Russian artists make this Nutcracker the must see production of the season.
