The Sonoma County Vintners will host their annual meeting for 2013 on Thursday, January 10, from 3-5:30 p.m. at the Vintners Inn on 4350 Barnes Road. The event will include guest speakers, a meet-and-greet with top affiliates, wine and hors d’ouevres. Free. Info: 575-7350. www.sonomawine.com.

The Santa Rosa Gem Fair will return to the Sonoma County Fairgrounds from Friday, January 11-Sunday, January 13, at 1350 Bennett Valley Road. The hours will run as follows: Friday, 12-6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.  Over 70 exhibitors from all over the world will showcase quality jewelry, gems, beads, crystals, silver, rocks and minerals. Jewelry repair is also available. Admission: $7. The Redwood Writers will host a workshop about the digital shift of the newspaper industry on Sunday, January 13, from 3-5 p.m. at the Flamingo Hotel & Resort on 2777 Fourth Street. The workshop will feature speaker Paul Gullixson. Gullixson is the editorial director at The Press Democrat and will be offering his top 10 tips on how to get a newspaper editor to publish your freelance submissions. The Sonoma County Waste Management Agency will host an e-waste electronics recycling event on Sunday, January 13, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts on 50 Mark West Springs Road. The organization will accept both working and non-working equipment, including the following: computer equipment, televisions, consumer electronics, office equipment, kitchen and household appliances. Not accepting the following: large appliances, large office equipment and fluorescent lamps.Goodwill will also be on hand to accept non-electronic donations. Free.
